An energy company has bought two new wind farm sites from power supplier SSE’s renewable arm.
SSE Renewables had previously consulted on installing up to 17 turbines at Brown’s Holt wind farm near Gainsborough in Lincolnshire and up to 22 turbines at the Woolfox farm in Rutland but RES is now planning to develop schemes that are “more modest in scale”.
The previous proposals raised concerns about the impacts on local people and the environment but the renewable energy firm claims it will “take these factors into account” and develop revised proposals for both sites.
David Cox, RES Head of Development in England said: “Both projects have great potential, offering excellent wind speeds and access. We will be reviewing the existing data about each site in some detail and expect to begin the process of drawing up our own plans for wind farms at these locations in the next few months.”
The developer expects to submit the revised planning applications for both wind farms before the end of 2014.
Earlier this year SSE agreed to buy a wind farm project in the Scottish Highlands from RES.
